Sengkang Town Council (SKTC) officially opened the Anchorvale Butterfly Sanctuary today, marking the completion of the second key project under the Sengkang 5-Year Town Plan. This follows the successful launch of the Rivervale Dog Run last July.
The initiative has transformed an ordinary multi-purpose hall rooftop into a vibrant butterfly garden, offering residents a unique opportunity to connect with nature within the urban landscape. Visitors can observe the fascinating life cycle of butterflies, from caterpillar to winged adult, in an immersive setting.
Member of Parliament for Sengkang GRC, Mr. Jamus Lim, remarked: “As an educator, it was important to me that this space is not just a facility; it is a living classroom that invites learning, reflection, and a deeper appreciation for the biodiversity we live with.”
Following today’s launch, the Anchorvale Butterfly Sanctuary is open to the public for walk-in visits. To enrich the visitor experience, SKTC has developed downloadable educator guides and activity books for a self-guided journey. Additionally, dedicated days will be set aside for schools and community organisations to book the sanctuary for their own educational visits.
We invite all residents to visit the Anchorvale Butterfly Sanctuary to explore at their own pace or simply enjoy a moment of tranquility surrounded by nature.
