The Lift Enhancement Programme (LEP), which began in 2018, aims to upgrade the features in older lifts to meet the standards of newer ones. Supported by the Housing Development Board (HDB), the LEP was launched as part of ensuring that lifts in public housing estates comply with the standards set out by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA).

Lifts that have been in operation for 18 years and under (as of the date of commencement of the LEP), would be eligible for the LEP. The LEP is performed over a period of approximately three weeks (per lift).
