Sengkang Town Council (SKTC) has officially opened the Rivervale Dog Run—an inclusive, community-driven project and the first completed initiative under SKTC’s 5-Year Town Plan.
The Rivervale Dog Run was conceived through a resident-led proposal by Paws on the Shores, a group of dog owners residing in Rivervale Shores, to Member of Parliament (MP) Mr Louis Chua. Following this, SKTC conducted feasibility studies, secured approvals from the relevant public agencies, and carried out broad-based community consultations. The project garnered strong support across the community, including from non-pet owners.
MP Louis Chua (Sengkang GRC, Rivervale) remarked, “The Rivervale Dog Run is a testament to the strength of collaborative, ground-up efforts. It is a welcoming space that promotes recreation, education, and responsible pet ownership, enhancing life for both residents and their pets.”
SKTC acknowledges the Housing and Development Board (HDB) as landowner, whose support was instrumental in realising this new amenity. The Council also extends its appreciation to community partners Save Our Street Dogs (SOSD) and NParks’ Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS), whose ongoing efforts play a vital role in promoting responsible pet ownership and fostering an empathetic, informed community.
The Rivervale Dog Run exemplifies SKTC’s broader vision of co-creating vibrant, inclusive neighbourhoods with residents and partners. As part of the 5-Year Town Plan, this project reflects SKTC’s commitment to meaningful community participation and the delivery of quality shared spaces.
Residents are encouraged to visit the new Rivervale Dog Run, and we look forward to partnering with more residents to bring ground-up initiatives to life as we continue Sengkang’s exciting journey together.
