Sengkang Town Council is pleased to announce its Sengkang Town Plan which contains details of what Sengkang residents can look forward to in the next 5 years. The plan includes details of upcoming projects such as the rejuvenation of Sengkang Sculpture Park, Anchorvale Butterfly Garden, Buangkok Rooftop Edible Garden, and Rivervale Dog Run, along with details about other upcoming initiatives relating to infrastructure and estate improvements.
At the core of the masterplan is the complete rejuvenation of Sengkang Sculpture Park, which will be conducted in two phases.
Phase 1 of the project will involve the transformation of the area around Sengkang’s Whale Sculpture landmark into three zones:
- Zone A will feature "kelong" style pavilions connected by stilt-like walkways. These walkways will provide a scenic route for residents to gather, rest, and partake in leisure activities.
- Zone B will be revamped into a waterscape, complete with a new sailboat water feature at its centre. Meandering walkways at the ends will allow residents to enjoy the water feature. Seating will be added, along with a new boat pavilion, for residents to relax in.
- Zone C will introduce a new landscaped garden that features trellises and seating options, inviting residents to unwind or enjoy a quiet moment. A coral reef sculpture will also be added to complement the existing art pieces.
For Phase 2, SKTC is launching an open call to young Sengkang residents aged 18-30 either working in or with an interest in community planning and design to form part of a steering committee, who will shape the larger parts of Sengkang Sculpture Park with inclusivity in mind. The steering committee will also have the chance to engage the broader Sengkang community in consensus-building exercise, as well as to come together to assemble certain components of the space.
