Sengkang residents gathered eagerly for a morning of fluttery fun at 336 Anchorvale Crescent – the official launch site of the Anchorvale Butterfly Sanctuary on 28 March 2026.
The event marked the completion of the second key project under Sengkang Town Council (SKTC)’s 5-Year Masterplan, following the opening of the Rivervale Dog Run last July. Located atop a multi-purpose hall, the Anchorvale Butterfly Sanctuary has transformed a simple rooftop into a living classroom designed to spark curiosity in children and offer a restorative space for seniors.
The launch was made even more festive by our MPs Jamus, Ting Ru, Louis and Muhaimin who joined the celebration with bubble guns in hand, to the delight of residents young and old.
While some families explored the sanctuary for the first time, others indulged in the complimentary food and activities, including a giant bouncy castle and face painting. Emboldened by our event emcee, some residents even broke into spontaneous karaoke with newfound friends, creating heartwarming memories that truly captured the spirit of Sengkang.
This kampung spirit of neighbourliness, creativity and collaboration is also at the heart of the Anchorvale Butterfly Sanctuary. This project is the culmination of months of collective effort from passionate volunteers, staff and engaged residents. SKTC extends our heartfelt thanks to the community for their enthusiasm and resounding support in bringing this shared vision to life.
With the sanctuary officially open for walk-in visits, we invite residents to drop by the Anchorvale Butterfly Sanctuary to explore and learn at their own pace, or simply enjoy a moment of tranquillity surrounded by nature.
Designed to be a self-guided experience, the sanctuary offers downloadable educator guides and activity books to enrich each visit. Schools interested in arranging a visit are welcome to contact SKTC at enquiry@sktc.sg.
