July 28

As one of the key projects under Sengkang Town Council (SKTC)’s 5-Year Masterplan, the Rivervale Dog Run was officially launched on a bright and cheery morning on 19 July 2025.

Residents and dog owners arrived with their furry companions to celebrate this important milestone together as a community. Our MPs Muhaimin, Jamus, and Louis were also present – with Louis bringing along his dog, Tanya, to join in the fun.

Our community partner, Save Our Street Dogs (SOSD), was on site with a booth offering a variety of merchandise, including t-shirts, caps, mugs, handmade wristbands, tote bags, magnets, pins, and more. Through their booth, residents also had the opportunity to learn more about the importance of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming stray dogs, as well as responsible pet ownership and the value of adoption.

The Rivervale Dog Run is a story of community effort, made possible through close collaboration between SKTC, various agencies, and community groups. The idea first took shape when a resident-led group, Paws on the Shores, submitted a proposal to MP Louis Chua. Following that, SKTC conducted feasibility studies, secured the necessary approvals from public agencies, and commissioned a comprehensive survey from 1 October to 30 November 2024 to solicit views from our residents. The response was encouraging — even from those without dogs — with 72% of respondents expressing support for a dog run and many sharing valuable feedback and suggestions.

SKTC would like to thank all the various agencies and our supportive partners, including SOSD, AVS, and Paws on the Shores, for their collaboration and contributions. Most importantly, we thank our residents — both pet and non-pet owners — for their enthusiasm, feedback, and continued support in making the Rivervale Dog Run a reality.

More than just a recreational space, Rivervale Dog Run reflects the community’s shared commitment to inclusiveness, responsible pet ownership, and the thoughtful use of public spaces. We hope it continues to bring residents together and enhance our neighbourhood for years to come.
