Breathing Life Back Into

Sengkang Sculpture Park

The park’s rejuvenation will be conducted in two phases. Phase 1 will see the revitalising of the area surrounding the iconic Whale Sculpture landmark into three distinct zones.

Zone A Kelong-Style Pavilions

Embracing Sengkang’s fishing roots, Zone A will feature Kelong-style pavilions connected by stilt-like walkways. These walkways will provide a scenic route for residents to gather, rest, and partake in leisure activities.

Zone B Waterscape and Sailboat Feature

This zone will be revamped into a serene waterscape, complete with a new sailboat water feature at its centre. Meandering walkways will allow residents to enjoy the water feature. Seating will be added, along with a new boat pavilion, to create a tranquil setting for residents to relax in.

Zone C Landscaped Garden and Coral Reef Sculpture

A new landscaped garden will feature trellises and seating options, inviting residents to unwind or enjoy a quiet moment. A coral reef sculpture will be added to complement the existing art pieces.

Phase 2 Co-Creating An Inclusive Space

In Phase 2, the community will be placed at the forefront of the space. Young Sengkang residents aged 18-30 will be invited to apply to join a steering committee which will shape the area’s design.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about community planning and design.

Collaborative Design for an Inclusive Space

The broader Sengkang community will be asked to join us in a consensus-building exercise, sharing ideas and contributing to the design process. Residents will have the opportunity to assist in assembling certain components of the space.

This collaborative approach ensures the co-creation of a truly inclusive space, catering to the diverse needs of the community and providing a welcoming environment for children and the young at heart of all abilities.
