Cultivating Community Spirit

This edible garden will provide residents with the opportunity to cultivate their own fruits, vegetables, and herbs, fostering a sense of community and promoting urban farming practices.

To support residents in their gardening journey, SKTC will offer workshops, led by experienced gardeners, covering the fundamentals of urban farming, from planting and nurturing crops to harvesting fresh produce and culinary experiences.

A Thriving Green Space and Community Hub

The Buangkok Edible Rooftop Garden will serve as a dual-purpose space, offering a productive green area for residents to grow their own produce, as well as a welcoming community hub where individuals can relax, socialise, and connect with one another.

Key Projects

Dog Run

Following enthusiastic feedback from residents, the Sengkang Town Council (SKTC) is excited to announce that construction of the Rivervale Dog Run at Rivervale Shores is currently underway, with completion expected this year.

A Community-Led Initiative

The concept for the dog run originated from a dedicated group of dog owners, who submitted a proposal to MP Louis Chua. SKTC then conducted a comprehensive survey between 1 October and 1 November 2024. Out of 271 responses, 72% of residents expressed support for the initiative, including a significant proportion of non-dog owners.

Addressing Community Concerns

SKTC carefully considered feedback from non-dog owners, relating to concerns with noise and cleanliness. To mitigate these concerns, the dog run will operate within designated hours, and a regular maintenance schedule will be implemented to ensure the facility remains clean and well-maintained.
